Black

A book reminded me one day

Why it is

I’m wearing black

Why it is why it is

Why it is I’m wearing black

We had a secret when we were young

We were told to tell no one

Where it is where it is

Where it is that we came from

If others knew that we’re still alive

Would not be a nice surprise

Would not be a surprise at all

In fact we should have never been born

The story’s basically the same

Some got a number some got a name

Number’s printed on the skin

And then they ripped off everything

Black’s the night in which I hide

It’s a way to stay outside

Who wants to participate

In a game the players do not want you in

It took some time to find a place

And even longer to feel safe

The job is done and it’s allright

But still I won’t be wearing white
